Anssi Smedlund is a Chief Research Scientist at the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health (FIOH), Helsinki, Finland and Adjunct Professor of organisational structures at the University of Tampere, Faculty of Management, Tampere, Finland. Smedlund received his  PhD in Industrial Engineering and Management from Aalto School of Science, Finland. He was the principal investigator in numerous service science and innovation management research projects and has held visiting scholar positions at the Tokyo Institute of Technology and UC Berkeley Haas School of Business. He has published 37 publications in journals, conferences, and books in the fields of knowledge management, service science and information system science with 800 citations and h-index 13.

Current research interests: Platform economy and digital services, Internet of Things (IoT) firm strategies and business models, social network analysis, individual ambidexterity
