NSF FUNDING OPPORTUNITY: INVESTIGATING SMARTER SERVICE SYSTEMS

NSF FUNDING OPPORTUNITY: INVESTIGATING SMARTER SERVICE SYSTEMS

The National Science Foundation (NSF) is looking for proposal and statements of interest from US universities partnering with corporations to build organizational capacity for the next generation of smarter service system innovators. We suggest that ISSIP mentorships can be an important component of such proposals, allowing for the professional development students, faculty, practitioners, and executive participants in the proposals.

A new Smarter Service Systems LinkedIn Group  has also been established.   The purpose of the group is to encourage service science researchers in US corporations and universities to establish collaborations that will lead to significant new innovation capacity for closing knowledge gaps related to creating smarter service systems across all industry segments from transportation to education, and all other areas of the economy including water, agriculture, energy, ICT, buildings, retail & hospitality, finance, healthcare, government – smarter buildings, campuses, districts, cities, counties states, nations.

Everyone’s ISSIP network of T-shaped service innovators could be a great way to build innovation capacity for smarter service systems. Technological and organizational platforms (e.g., smart phones, franchises with “gamification” loyalty programs, etc.) are examples of service system innovations. More information about the funding program can be found here.
