A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT!

AR_Picture_3-150x150Dear ISSIP Members:

I am delighted and honored to serve as the first President of ISSIP. I have always been fascinated with the modern science of services. Serving as president has given me a newfound appreciation for the many activities going on across many areas of services and the incredibly talented and dedicated volunteers who make these activities happen.

When I read that the number of devices connected to the Internet has already suppressed 12 Billion and is expected to reach 25 Billion in 2015, I see a colossal opportunity to combine technology, business and social science to improve quality of life by developing new set of services that appeared imaginary just several years ago. The new effusively connected world poses a great challenge and opportunity for the industry (suppliers, service providers and management companies), local and federal governments as well universities and research institutes. The challenge lies in providing scalable, secure and superior degree of automation to ensure smooth service for end customers. The opportunity lies in the ability in defining new services and polices that automatically capture essential related information and provide enhanced features and services.

Our mission “To Promote Service Innovations for Our Interconnected World” reflects the direction of our organization for the upcoming years. ISSIP focus areas will be our commitment to promote service innovation professional development, education, research, practice and policy advocacy to enhance quality of life. We have formed four Special Interest Groups (SIGs):  Education and Research, Cloud Mobility, User Experience and Future of Services. We’re looking for volunteers to work with our very talented SIG members.  For more information about the active SIGs, please check the related posts in this newsletter.

I want to thank each and every one of you for your membership and participation, the SIG members for their outstanding dedication and collaborative spirit, and our sponsors and supporters for their continued patronage and generosity.

Ammar Rayes
