CALL FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE CLOUD MOBILITY SIG

CM-SIG-150x150The Mission of the Cloud Mobility SIG within ISSIP is to enhance end user service experience by employing innovative techniques in cloud and mobile computing. The use of cloud for smart phones and tablets is gaining so much momentum for personal and enterprise business users alike. End users and well as service providers are looking into algorithms, techniques, and tools to assess and optimize cloud migration performance including  protocols and standards for enabling inter-cloud client migration.

The Cloud mobility SIG is focusing on identifying latest methods, processes and techniques to improve end user service experience in several key areas including:

  • Resource Allocation and Management: Intra-cloud resource allocation, client-cloud resource allocation, service-centric resource allocation and big data handling and processing
  • Architecture and Infrastructure: Datacenter topology and layout client-assisted cloud infrastructure – involvement of clients (e.g., smartphones, tablets, and other devices) in the cloud infrastructure and client-cloud interactions
  • Security: end user privacy, authentication and data security.
  • Influencing Standard bodies & new protocols: performance metrics to assess availability, reliability, efficiency of clouds and cloud service providers, models to characterize and evaluate the performance metrics and tools and techniques to measure and assess the performance metrics.

The SIG is looking for subject innovators who would like to share their views and/or support the SIG in the above areas and other related areas.

Ammar Rayes, Ph.D., ISSIP President  and Cisco Distinguished Service Engineer, chairs the Cloud Mobility SIG with research subject matter experts from The University of Michigan and Organ States University. The SIG meets bi-weekly on conference calls.  If you are interested in joining , please contact Ammar Rayes at chair-cmsig@issip.org.
