ISSIP

Shitij Sharma, Sr. Manager Customer Experience-Practice leader, Cisco Systems

For 20+ years, as a business-focused technologist, I have been helping customers and organizations as they go about their transformation journey. My career has spanned management consulting, professional services, service product management, and managing business lines—Leading and managing teams as well as crushing it on my own as an individual contributor.

In the past few years at Cisco Systems Inc, I’ve been trusted to lead business lines to help organize, optimize, and scale for rapid growth. I enjoy roles where I can make a real difference – for the team, my customers, and my management with a proven track record of leading matrixed teams to come together and execute—be it to deliver unique value for our customers, transform large global offers to customer-focused high value “X”aaS offerings, or provide support, mentorship and leadership to the people I work with.

Prior to Cisco, I worked at  Gartner Inc as the Director of Gartner Consulting’s Infrastructure and Operations strategy practice. I had the pleasure of working with a wide range of clients across many industries on a broad set of topics. My focus there was sales and delivery of strategic engagements that set the long term execution strategy for my customers.

I started my career at PricewaterhouseCoopers where my work focused on bringing technical and process solutions to solve customer challenges.

I’ve had the opportunity to learn and grow at these amazing companies with a focus on providing high-value consulting services.

Position Statement:

With my background working at Gartner, providing long-range strategy services to my customers, working in different management positions at Cisco; driving delivery automation of large scale initiatives, and being responsible for product management including development of new service offerings and improving the value of mature offering to some of the largest customers across the world; I believe I have an ideal background to serve as the next ISSIP Vice President.

Throughout my career, I have always focused on (1): Value: who is the key stakeholder or organization we are serving, how are they measured, and what are the key values we are uniquely positioned to deliver and (2): Practical execution: ensuring people I work with understand not only where we are going, but also the sensible steps we have to take to get there.

I believe my background and approach will be very helpful when it comes to continuing the evolution of ISSIP, to provide improved value for our private members, our corporate members, and also influencing the future of education within STEM, with a focus on service evolution, automation, and meaningful outcomes.

If selected, my areas of focus will be:

  1. Growth of brand recognition while increasing value to our members
  2. Alignment of strategies to core ISSIP needs, utilizing all available channels to full extent possible and encourage greater growth and involvement.
  3. Increase our outreach to members and the general public via new approaches for exchanging ideas and learning via programs such as  “The 15 min expert series”
  4. Increasing value and attraction to younger members by providing Career/mentorship service to early in career members through voluntary efforts.
  5. Highlight and expand on projects that propagate Service Innovation for social needs and improvement: concepts of using service innovation to help causes that improve the social climate (people, animals, environment)

Thank you for this opportunity.
