Utpal Mangla ( MBA, PEng, CMC, ITCP, PMP, ITIL, CSM ) is a VP and Senior Partner in IBM Services. He leads IBM’s TME Industry Center of Competency focussing on Artificial Intelligence, IoT, 5G EDGE, Hybrid Cloud, Robotics and Blockchain Innovations for clients worldwide. In his role as a senior executive in the business with P&L responsibility and thought leader in emerging technologies, Utpal’s mission is to fuel growth by building, selling & implementing differentiated competitive market solution offerings to delight our customers.
Under Utpal’s leadership, his team recently achieved company’s mission of making “Watson AI Impact 1 Billion Consumers”. His team is at the forefront in making innovative technologies real for Industry enterprises across the globe by piloting use cases, deploying, scaling and replicating B2B/B2C solutions globally.
Utpal is also a Senior Partner at a Canadian Telecommunications company and runs multiple programs with team of 500+ practitioners spread across different countries. Utpal brings deep expertise focussing on Digital transformation, Customer insights, SAP, Data analytics, Field workforce management, QA and Network data monetization.
Utpal has been with IBM (and PwC) since 1998. With 20+ years of professional experience, Utpal is a highly dedicated, motivated & dynamic leader who thrives in challenging environments. He is reputed for his trust, commitment, excellent problem solving and organizational skills. Recipient of numerous IBM client excellence awards, he is recognized as an “IBM Top Talent.”
Utpal is a regular speaker at industry forums, university leadership and business conferences globally, including GSMA MWC, THINK, TMForum, Salesforce Dreamforce, Cannes and CEM Telecoms. He is a regular contributor to white papers, industry blogs, external analyst reports, contributes to press and has multiple patents. Utpal is on the board of ATIS, committee member of SCTE and TMForum’s AI Advisory Board. He is also a member of IBM’s Industry Academy and 5G EDGE acceleration team.
Utpal holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer science engineering with highest honors and MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management. Utpal has also completed executive studies in Harvard Business School’s strategic leadership, Wharton School’s financial value creation and Stanford Business School’s entrepreneurial leadership programs. Utpal holds several designations in fields of IT, SAFE agile methods, complex engagements, dynamic team leadership, engineering, consulting and design thinking.
